He was one of the greatest Teachers I ever had. I always talked about him fondly. As he would say in class “Long live Mr Bean!”. Thank you, Mr Emma for teaching me, putting up with my antics and making learning fun.

Hi! My name is Daniela Nuñez and I was a student of Mr. Emma. The moment that triggered was a video of Mr. Bean performing at the Olympics. I wanted to share it with him, but while searching for him, I found out he recently passed. Please receive my most heartfelt condolences. He was an amazing teacher, who truly made my days At UHS memorable. I graduated in 1999….and his memory will forever live in my heart as an amazing teacher and human being.

I’m so sorry I only heard about this now. I had him in 2009-2010 as my English teacher. I still remember the story of how he proposed to his wife on the beach. He loved to play Mr. Bean and Monty Python. He was a great man. May he Rest In Peace.

Mr. Emma taught me 11th English and beyond. As my favorite teacher, he truly expressed an interest in us and challenged us to think creatively and critically about issues still relevant today. His class was a haven of inspiration I anticipated daily. During class, he shared deep material with us whether it was a song, passage, poem, or a personal story that still resonates with me. What he showed and taught us helped me take a lifelong stance against war as my family and I continue to wave the flag for humanity. After school hours, he found time to run Debate Club which gently forced us to consider different perspectives of the same issue. As my life progresses, I've always appreciated the influence he's had on my everyday life and choices. Within one school year, he changed the way we saw the world for a lifetime as thinking and loving humans. Florence Chua UHS 96

I taught with Dave for 18 years at UHS. I am saddened to hear of his passing. We had a lot of humorous times as colleagues in the English department. He always made fun of my assortment of paper clips. Gale Feingold

I will always treasure my memories of Dave and Sara visiting us in the summer. Dave would be bringing a tray of marinated
chicken and a tray of vegetables, both prepped for outdoor grilling. With a big smile, utensils in hand, wearing my husband’ grilling apron, Dave was loving life. And we loved him.
