Obituary of Hubert L. Pierson Jr

Hubert Pierson died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend the funeral at Saint George's Church, 550 Ridgewood Rd., Maplewood, N.J., on Tuesday, Oct 12, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the church on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010. Arrangements are by The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood.
Born in Orange, N.J., in 1923, Hubert spent most of his life in Maplewood before moving to New Providence, N.J. He was the 5th generation of Piersons to run Pierson Mill Co.
He served in the Army Air Corps as a medic during World War II.
A lifelong active member of St. George's Church, he was also active in community services, and was especially honored to be one of the founders of the Tree of Life Counseling Service. He was also president of the Chaplaincy Service at St. Barnabas Hospital, a valued board member of the House of the Good Shepherd, and a dedicated member of the Chi Psi fraternity.
Hubert was the husband of the late Sara (Deems) Pierson, and the father of Gregory, Patricia, Mark and Laura.
