Michael "Mickey" Hannon Seton Hall University Hall of Famer Michael "Mickey" William Hannon, 79, of Union died on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County, Berkeley Heights. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Friday, Jan. 29, at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visitation will be held at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneral home.net Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Hannon lived in Vailsburg and South Orange before moving to Union four years ago. He was a physical education teacher with the Clark Township Board of Education from 1966 until retiring in 1996. He also worked as a bartender at Cryan's in South Orange, and, during the summer, at the Sea Girt Inn at theJersey shore. A 1954 graduate of Seton Hall University, he was a member of the Seton Hall University Basketball Hall of Fame. He played on the 1953 Seton Hall University basketball team that went 31-2 and were "N.I.T." champions. He was the beloved husband of Alyce A. White Hannon; devoted father of Lisa Horton and her husband, Thomas, of South Orange, Tara Aimutis and her husband, Edward, of Union, Marla Hernandez and her husband, Tony, of Key Biscayne, Fla. and the late Michael C. Hannon; loving grandfather of Michael Scott McDonald, Thomas Joseph and Michael William Horton, Amanda Marie, Sarah Elizabeth and Alina Sophia Hernandez and dear brother of Joseph Hannon of Cape Coral, Fla., Gerard Hannon of Bohemia, N.Y. and Mildred Koehler of Howard Beach, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society, N.J. Metro Chapter, 1 Kalisa Way, Suite 205, Paramus, N.J. 07652 would be appreciated.
