Anne Savidis Christian, 85, of Maplewood died July 20, 2009, in Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Saint Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 510 Linden Place, Orange, on Thursday, July 23, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Orange, Mrs. Christian was a lifelong resident of Maple wood. She resided with her daughter, Carol and husband, Mark and seven West grandchildren. She was a waitress at Bloomingdales in Short Hills from 1971 to 1991, when she retired. She was a member of Saint Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Orange. Mrs. Christian led bicycle trips for 12 years across Europe and on weekends for the Union County Hiking Club. She was the beloved wife of the late Sgt. Nicholas Christian of the Maplewood Police Department; devoted mother of Edward P. Christian and his wife, Debra, Carol A. West and her husband, Mark, and the late Robert S. Christian; loving grandmother of Tivoli, Heidi, Whitney, Dane, Skye, Dallas and Bobby West, Kimberly, Allison and Nicholas Christian, and dear sister of Hera Kwiatkowski, Geogia Noon and the late Kirk Savidis. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maplewood PBA Local 44, P.O. Box 332, Maplewood, N.J. 07040 would be appreciated.
