Elva Tremper died peacefully at home, April 25 at the age of 94. A lifelong resident of the Oranges and Maplewood, she graduated from Columbia High school and worked as a clerk at Globe Indemnity Insurance Co, NYC. She was a member of the former Central Reformed Church where she participated in Christian Endeavor as a youth and taught Sunday School. She was a neighborhood solicitor for several charities including March of Dimes and American Cancer Society. She had a love of stage and screen and an avid interest in nature, particularly birds. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Kathryn Wallenstein, her husband Melvin Bodmer Tremper, and her brothers Colton and Crandall Wallenstein. She is survived by her children Melvin H. and Diane E. Tremper, two granddaughters and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13 at 11:30 AM at St John's Lutheran Church, Avon Ave at 10th St, Newark. Memorial donations can be made to Cornell Lab of Ornithology 159 Sapsucker Woods Rd. Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements by The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood.
