Obituary of Grace F. Soffer

Grace Florey Soffer, 89, of West Orange died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, in St. Cloud's Nursing Home, West Orange. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. Interment is at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, N.Y. She lived in Inwood, Long Island, N.Y., for most of her life with her departed husband, Rubin. She moved to West Orange 15 months ago. She was an elementary school teacher for the New York City Board of Education at P.S. 197 in Far Rockaway for many years before retiring. She retired from teaching to devote her time to her love of watercolor and travel. Grace received her B.A. degree in sociology from Ohio State. She was a proud member of the Tri-County Artists Association of Long Island. Grace was the beloved wife of the late Rubin Soffer; devoted mother of Jerry Soffer and his wife, Elaine; loving grandmother of Pamela and Cara Soffer, and dear sister of Raymond Florey and Patricia Racz.
