Obituary of Albert J. Marcantonio

Albert J. Marcantonio, 81, passed away on July 3, 2008, at home in Millburn, after a long battle with cancer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, on Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Albert, a retired carpenter, lived in Millburn and also had a hunting camp in Great Pond, Maine. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. Active in the Masons in New Jersey and Maine, he was a past worshipful master and a grand chaplain. He was very active in the Masons charities, most notably the Special Olympics. He was a member of the American Legion Post 140, VFW Post 10120 and the Carpenters Union Local 620 of Madison. Albert is survived by his devoted children, Susan Smith, Albert Marcantonio, Roberta Marcantonio and Carolyn Potter; brother, Anthony (Bill) Marcantonio; and his loving grandchildren, Cameron and Hillary Smith, Douglas, Steven and Brenna Potter. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 767 Northfield Ave., West Orange, N.J. 07052 or the Free and Accepted Masons, Loyalty Lodge 33, 1912 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. 07083 would be appreciated.
