Edmond J. Fernand, 87, of South Orange, N.J., passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016, at St. Barnabus Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Saturday, June 25, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Edmond, born in Elizabeth, N.J., lived in South Orange for 53 years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He was the owner/operator of the Club Diana banquet hall in Union, N.J., from 1950 to 1976. Edmond served in the U.S. National Guard from 1945 to 1962 and was a master sergeant in Troop B, 5th Recon. 50th Armor Division. He enjoyed building model railroads as well as model ships which he sailed in the South Orange Duck Pond. Edmond was the beloved husband of Geraldine Silano Fernand; devoted father of Edmond Fernand Jr. and his wife, Linda and Michelle Martin and her husband, Joseph, and the loving grandfather of Joseph, Michael, Isabelle and Genevieve. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905 would be appreciated.
