Christophe Philippe Rosental, 53, of Maplewood, NJ and Le Ham, Normandie, France passed away Thursday, July 7, from pancreatic cancer. Born in Paris, he was the son of Monique DesLongchamps and Lucien Rosental, both of whom predeceased him, and a devoted husband and father. A graduate of Paris-Sorbonne University with a degree in Computer Science, Christophe also attended UCLA and earned a scholarship to New York University, where he completed an MBA in 1988. A Senior Business Analyst for Calypso Technology, Inc., Christophe also worked for Sungard Financial Systems and Crédit Agricole. Christophe became a US Citizen in 1997. He was very proud to be an American but also of his heritage, returning to Le Ham every year and immersing his son in the French language and culture. In addition to travel, Chess was his lifelong passion. Christophe took up the game at an early age and at twelve was named the Junior Champion of Paris. Up until his death, he continued to play competitively in New York. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Susan Wade Menk, their son, Alexandre Wade Rosental, cousin Micheline Cenier and extended family in France. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 15th, 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St, South Orange. Reception immediately following at The Maplewood Club, 489 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at personal donation page setup in Christophe's memory at www.pancan.org.
