Joseph Aloysius Staatsburg of Maplewood, N.J., passed away peacefully at home on the morning of June 1, 2016. He will be laid to eternal rest at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J., on Tuesday, June 14, at 12:30 p.m. Born in Newark, N.J., on Sept. 13, 1925, Joseph was the son of the late Edward and Pauline Imfeld Staatsberger. He graduated from Columbia High School and enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1943 at age 17. He was wounded twice while serving in the Marshall and Solomon Islands, Guam, and Okinawa, and was a proud PFC in G Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Marines. He was employed for many years by the Lockheed-Martin Company. Joseph was a loving man and he was much loved; he will be missed and remembered by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved two brothers, Edward and Harold John, and his sister, Pauline Barth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Veterans Association (marinevets.org). Arrangements were made by Preston Funeral Home, South Orange, N.J.
