Theresa M. Papp, 100, of Elizabeth, formerly of South Orange, died at home on March 15, 2016. Papp was born in Hollfeld, Germany and lived in South Orange for many years before moving to Elizabeth. She won the title of " Mrs. America" in 1939. Mrs. Papp was a member of the Seton Hall University Bailey Seton League. She was a past member of the Rosary Society and the Bandage Rolling Group of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange and the Rosary Society of Assumption Church, Roselle Park. She also was a volunteer at her children's schools and a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts. Mrs. Papp was the devoted mother of Richard Papp, Marianne Whelan, Edward Papp, Theresa K. Papp, Nancy Campi and the late Joseph B. Papp and Rev. Christopher Papp. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
