Obituary of Gertrude J. Zimmermann

Gertrude J. Zimmermann, 72, of Basking Ridge, N.J., and formerly of Maplewood, N.J., passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012. The family will be receiving friends at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, N.J., on Friday, Dec. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a brief service at 8 p.m. She was born in Passaic, N.J., and lived in Basking Ridge for 14 years and Maplewood for 24 years. Gertrude attended East Rutherford High School, Jersey City, N.J., and the Jersey City Medical Center Nursing School. She was a registered nurse at Jersey City Medical Center, Hackensack Medical Center, and Somerset Medical Center. Gertrude was a former member of the Maplewood Country Club and Maplewood Little Club. She was an avid tennis player and she cherished her home in Montauk, N.Y. She was the beloved wife of Peter T. Zimmermann; devoted mother of Deborah Pigott, Peter A. Zimmermann, and Allison Jellinek; loving grandmother of Hayley, Brendan, Emily, Kevin, Kaya, and P.J; devoted daughter of the late Albert and Lydia Ederle.
