Obituary of Raymond Lester Rowe

Raymond Lester Rowe of Maplewood, N.J. died August at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. He was 78 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church 767 Prospect St. Maplewood on Tues, Sept 4th at 10:00 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven in E. Hanover. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Monday 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Born in Plainfield, He attended Bloomfield Vo-Tech for drafting. Upon graduation, Mr. Rowe went to work for Public Service Coordinated Transport which changed its name to NJ Transit. He started his career in the Legal Department mailroom and retired after 49 years of service as a Senior Supervisor in the Legal Claims Department. In 1957, he married Marie Ann (Farrell) Rowe and has lived in Maplewood since 1960. Volunteering has always been a big part of who is was. He volunteered as an usher for the Princeton football home games for 10 years. He ushered at mass at St. Joseph Church. He was member of the Maplewood Jaycees. He joined the Maplewood Garden club and eventually became president. He also volunteered to help sell flowers on Mother's Day at St. Joseph. Eighteen years ago he became a gardening instructor and started his own consulting business. When he retired from NJ Transit, he became a Master Gardener. In addition to being survived by his wife, he also survived by 2 children and their spouses. Deborah Ann Yacobowsky (Frank) and Sharon Ann Griener (Robert). He is also survived by his granddaughter, Jessica Ann Griener, the light of his life.
