Nancy Jane Bendokas (nee Suckow) of Florham Park, N.J., formerly of Short Hills, N.J., passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, N.J., on Tuesday, May 15, at 9 a.m., thence to St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Interment is in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Born in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., Nancy grew up in Hillside, N.J., and Point Pleasant Beach. She lived in Short Hills, N.J., for 40 years and most recently lived in Florham Park. She graduated from the Academy of St. Elizabeth and the College of St. Elizabeth, both of Convent Station, N.J. After graduating from college, Nancy worked in her family's manufacturing business, Eureka Spring Co of Newark, N.J., where she developed a strong work ethic, while also being a loving wife to her beloved Jack and a caring mother to her five children. She retired from Eureka in 2009. Nancy is best described as a "GRACIOUS LADY." Nancy - Always had a smile, Always made people feel welcome, Had a contagious laugh, Loved a party, Always had a positive attitude and Loved the Shore. Nancy brightened the day for all the people she encountered. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills. She was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the RCIA team and the Ladies Auxiliary. Nancy was also a member of the Serra Club of the Oranges, having served as treasurer for a number of years. Nancy was a devout Catholic who prayed daily for religious vocations. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Bendokas Jr.; devoted mother of Nancy Bendokas, John J. Bendokas III, Mary Ellen Bendokas-Rudolphsen, Patty Nascone and Jimmy Bendokas, and dear sister of Gustave III, Alfred, William, Douglas, Jeffrey Suckow and the late Dorothy Cherry and Patricia Ann Suckow. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and one great- grandson. In lieu of flowers, donations to the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J., or the Sage Eldercare Spend A Day Program, Summit, N.J., would be appreciated.
