Thadeus (Ted) Baryiewski, 79, of Millburn, formerly of South Orange, died on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in St. Cloud Nursing Home, West Orange. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net. Born in Newark, Mr. Baryiewski lived in South Orange before moving to Millburn 20 years ago. He was an electrician for the East Orange V.A. Hospital for many years before retiring in 1990. Before that, he also worked as an electrician out of Local 52 in Newark. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange. Mr. Baryiewski was a standout All-State pitcher at Irvington High School in the 1940s and was inducted into Irvington Hall of Fame in 1990. He played semi-pro baseball for the farm team of the N.Y. Giants. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War, with the rank of corporal. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Dempsey Baryiewski; devoted father of Theodore A. Baryiewski and his wife, Joan, and Denise Crowell and her husband, Wayne; loving grandfather of Steven Baryiewski and his wife, Dana, Scott Baryiewski, Wayne F. Crowell Jr., Bryan Crowell and Ted Baryiewski, and dear brother of Stella Young.
