Obituary of James W. Gilby

James W. Gilby, 74, of Milford, N.J., formerly of South Orange, N.J., passed on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township. The family will be receiving friends at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange, N.J., on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m. Interment is private. He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He was a member of the Union Fire Department from 1972 to 2000, retiring as a lieutenant. James was the beloved husband of the late Carol Pew Gilby; devoted father of Jill Boyle, James Gilby and his wife, Stacey, Jed Gilby and his fiancee, Jamie; loving grandfather of Caitlin, Daniel, Jake, Justin and Jon, and dear brother of the late Frank and Harry Gilby.
