Rosemary Lizza (nee Gervasio), 85, a lifelong resident of South Orange, N.J., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones, at the home of her son, Joseph R. Lizza. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is private. Visitation will be held at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net Rosemary attended Our Lady of the Valley High School before raising her family. She worked for many years for Seton Hall University in South Orange before retiring. She was fond of family gatherings and had many friends and relatives in the South Orange area. Rosemary was an active volunteer at Sacred Heart Parish in Newark, N.J., for many years and was most recently a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in South Orange. Rosemary is survived by her sister, Frances Fitzgerald and husband, Russ; son, Fred Lizza (and wife, Julia, and children, Marissa and Jessica); son, Joseph Lizza (and wife, Barbara, and children, Christina and Joseph), and daughter, Maria Goldman (and husband, Stan, and children, Sarah and Heather, and great-grandson, Stephen), and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Rosemary was previously married to Joseph Lizza of South Orange, who passed away several months ago. Mrs. Lizza was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Gervasio.
