Obituary of Maria do Ceu Ferraz Lopes

Maria F. Lopes, 99, passed away on Sept. 30, 2014, at Memory Care Living in Green Brook, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, N.J., on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at St. James Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave., Springfield, N.J. Interment will be at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, N.J., immediately following. Born in Ovar, Portugal, Maria was a seamstress for much of her life and lived in Elizabeth, N.J.; Springfield, and South Orange. Maria was the devoted mother of Rudolph C. Lopes of South Orange. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Lynn W. Lopes; her niece, Maria Catorze, and great-niece, Nancy Catorze Macfarlane. Donations to the Community Food Bank of NJ, 31 Evans Terminal, Hillside, N.J. 07205 would be appreciated.
