Obituary of Margaret Brennan Quaritius

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peggy Quaritius will always be known as a woman with a quick wit and a big heart. She was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn to Pawnee and Ed Brennan and spent most of her childhood there. She moved to Rockville Centre, LI in the early '40's with the family. She attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial school and worked for ABC Television for the Vice President. Peggy met and married Henry Quaritius (known to his friends as "Que") in 1947. When Peggy was expecting her first child and left her job at ABC, it took 2 secretaries to replace her. Peg and Que traveled the world and were well known for the funniest friends and elegant entertaining. If you asked how many children she had, it would be a tough answer. She helped her sister, Eileen, raise her 3 children, then she had 3 children, then adopted her 11 yr old niece, Carolyn, when her mom died and often had Carolyn's brothers for weekends. At any given time, there could be 3, 6, or 9 kids at the dinner table. After the kids were grown Peggy went back to the work force as Executive Secretary to the Director of Family Practice at South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside NY. She became a mentor to countless physicians as they completed their residency and was the "right arm" of Dr Scott Kirsch, Director of Family Practice for 10 yrs. Her philosophy is simple, "To be successful in life you must do what you love, pay yourself first, and remember that 99% of the things you worry about never happen." In 1994, Peg and Que moved to Stafford Springs CT to be closer to her daughter, Meg and husband John and her grandchildren Benjamin, Emma & Luke. In 2011 Peggy moved to New Jersey to live at Brighton Garden's Assisted Living facility and be closer to her son. She greatly enjoyed yearly visits from her daughter Jan and Larry. Over the years people have asked, how do you stay so young? Her reply is always: "I love life! Work as long as you can and have a plan for every day."
