Obituary of Beatrice Conroy

Beatrice (Bette) Conroy, 86, of Maplewood, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010 She was born in Orange, New Jersey but was a resident of Maplewood for most of her adult life. Mrs. Conroy was predeceased by her husband Andrew Conroy and siblings ; William O’Connor, Kathleen Staub and Lucille Haugh. She is survived by her loving children, Maureen Tauriello and husband, Peter of Irvington, Patricia Conroy of Nutley and Andrew Conroy, Jr. of Maplewood. She leaves behind six grandchildren; Gus Formato, Sean Tauriello , Kimberly Siemers (nee Tauriello), Christopher Formato, Victoria Formato, and Mark Tauriello as well as two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy McCarthy and many beloved nieces and nephews Mrs . Conroy was employed in the real estate appraisal field for over 50 years, retiring from Norman J. Goldberg, Inc. of West Caldwell in 2002. She was an active volunteer in veteran’s affairs and was a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 319 where she served as President for over 10 years. She also served on the Essex County Committee and as the Petite Chapeaux of Essex Salon Eight and Forty, an American Legion Honor Society. Mrs. Conroy was a member of the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 217 Prospect St. South Orange on Thur, July 8th at 9:30 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Wed, 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maplewood First Aid Squad.
