Obituary of Marie B. Connolly

Marie Burkhardt Connolly, 89, of Montclair died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Van Dyk Manor, Montclair. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 4:30 p.m. Interment is private. Born in Newark, Mrs. Connolly lived in South Orange and Maplewood for most her life before moving to Montclair three years ago. She worked for the Township of Maplewood from 1939 to 1979, before retiring as a tax assessor. Mrs. Connolly was the beloved wife of the late John J. Connolly; loving sister of William Burkhardt, and dear stepmother of Marybeth Henry, Jayne Costanzo, Maureen Baker, Carol Connolly-Ogden and John J. Connolly Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Van Dyk Manor Nursing Home, 42 N. Mountain Ave., Montclair, N.J. 07042, would be appreciated.
