Bridget P. Hobbs (nee Lyons), 78, of Basking Ridge, N.J., a former resident of Maplewood, N.J., for many years, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood, on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. Interment is in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery, Dunshaughlin, Ireland. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Dunshaughlin, Ireland, Mrs. Hobbs was a devoted mother and "Granny" who was proud of her Irish heritage and loved America. Mrs. Hobbs worked for the Township of Maplewood for over 25 years. She started her career as a crossing guard, then worked in the records bureau at the police department, and retired in 1996 as registrar of vital statistics at the Maplewood Board of Health. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Maplewood. Bridget was the beloved wife of the late Patrick (Gerry) Hobbs; devoted mother of Sarah Rita Vacchiano; Patrick Esmond Hobbs; Joseph Martin Hobbs and his wife, Franca, and Tara Mary McAleer and her husband, Mickey. She was the loving grandmother of Robert, Evan, Patrick, John, Alexandra, Taylor, Kayla, Meghan, Eoin, Kieran, and Brendan, and dear sister of Noreen Mackle and Sally Nolan.
