Marie A. Manning (nee D'Ambra), 98, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Manor Care Health Services, New Providence, N.J.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J., on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Born in Newark, N.J., in 1914, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Lucy Roselle D'Ambra and the sister of the late Michael D'Ambra. Marie was employed by Hyatt Roller Bearing (a Division of General Motors) in Harrison, N.J., and Clark, N.J., and at L. Bamberger in Newark, N.J., until the time of her marriage in 1951. After getting married Marie and her husband Gerard lived in South Orange until 1982 when they moved to Toms River, N.J. In 2001 she relocated to Livingston, N.J., until 2007 and she has spent the rest of her life in New Providence, N.J., and Millington, N.J. She was a former member of Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary Society, Silver Ridge Park Senior Center, and a communicant at St. Barnabas Church in Barnegat, N.J.
Beloved wife of the late Gerard Manning (1987), she was the devoted mother to both Judi Manning Mason and her husband Lee of Millington, N.J., formerly of Maplewood, N.J.; cherished grandmother of Shannon Mason of Chatham, N.J., and Sean Mason and his wife, Erin, of Doylestown, Pa.; loving great-grandmother of Taegan and Cian Mason; dear aunt of Lucille D'Ambra Stutsman of Huron, Ohio, and cousin of Sandra Roselle Hall of Denville, N.J.
