Graham T. Curtis, M.D., 83, of Maplewood, N.J., died on May 13, 2015, at St. Barnabas Medical Center. The family will be receiving friends at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Thursday, May 21, from 3 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Interment is private. He attended Bristol University and received his medical degree from Bristol University Medical School. After working for a number of years in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, he travelled to Sierra Leone on behalf of his hospital, and worked as the only radiologist in that country for 18 months while an African doctor was trained in the U.K. After that enriching experience, he came with his family to the United States in 1968, and lived in Washington, D.C., where he was a radiologist at Georgetown University Hospital. He moved to Maplewood in 1971, and was an associate professor of radiology at UMDNJ from 1971 to 1996. Dr. Curtis was a lifelong reader, especially enjoying science fiction and fantasy. He was also an early fan of Apple computers and an enthusiastic member of the MACNJ computer club. He was the beloved husband for 60 years to Mary Kempe Curtis and devoted father of Annette Curtis Klause, Nicola Fry, Simon, Dru, and the late Julie Curtis. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
