Elma R. Tamayo, 88, of West Orange, N.J., died on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net Elma was born in Palma Soriano, Cuba, and graduated from University of Havana in Cuba with a teaching degree. She lived in West Orange for 15 years, and formerly in South Orange for 22 years. She retired from the credit department of First National State Bank in Newark, where she worked from 1967 to 1990 She was a communicant of Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, South Orange. Elma was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Tamayo; devoted mother of Angeles Noonan and Charles Tamayo and his wife, Marisa; loving grandmother of Elena, Mae, Sarah, Matthew, Stephen, Sean, and Kevin; dear sister of Juan Carlos Rego Sr. and the late Marta, Elia, and Carmalina. She is also survived by her caregivers, Monique and Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 95 Old Short Hills Rd., West Orange, N.J. 07052
