Phyllis B. Ulicny, 82, of Summit, N.J., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, N.J. She was the daughter of the late Maxwell K. Burckett and Ethel M. Burckett. Cremation will be handled privately. A memorial service will be held at Morrow Memorial Church, (Ivy Chapel) 600 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood on Sat, November 17th at 11:00 AM Arrangements are by The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood, N.J. Born on Nov. 29, 1929, Phyllis moved with her family to Maplewood, N.J., in the 1930s. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and a troop leader for the Girl Scouts. Phyllis graduated from Lassell College, Auburn, Mass., in 1949 with an associate degree in journalism and spent her young working life as a copy writer for the advertising firm of J. Walter Thompson and later as a program coordinated for PBS Channel 13. For 30-plus years she worked with her husband, Walter Ulicny, in a private asset management firm in Summit, N.J. Phyllis was a Summit resident for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener and dog lover. She is survived by her husband, Walter P. Ulicny; son, Peter W. Ulicny of Pottersville, N.J.; sister, Gail Brandt of Hawaii, and her beloved canines, Samantha and Fiona. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Seeing Eye, 10 Washington Valley Road, P.O. Box 375, Morristown, N.J. 07963.
