Giuliano --- On Thursday, July 26, 2012 Samuel J. Giuliano of South Orange entered into eternal life surrounded by loving family, friends and clergy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St, South Orange on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Interment Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, E. Giuliano's career in the areas of accounting and finance culminated with his position as President and CEO of Title USA, from which he retired in 1989.He served with the US Army during World War II and was a member of the occupational forces stationed in Hiroshima, Japan after the end of the war. Sam graduated from Seton Hall University with a bachelor of science degree in 1950 and earned a MBA from NYU Graduate School of Business in 1954. During his career he was a licensed CPA, a member of the American Institute of CPA's, a brother in the NY State Society of CPA's Fraternity and a member of the Beta Alpha Psi National Accounting honorary organization. Sam served Seton Hall University in many capacities over the years, including the University Advisory Council, the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology's Board of Overseers, the Stillman School of Business Advisory Board and the President's Advisory Council. In 1970, he was named Distinguished Alumnus of the School of Business and, in 2010 he received the inaugural Stillman Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a welcome fixture on campus and enjoyed working out in the recreation center, attending cultural and spiritual events, and visiting with students, faculty, priests and scores of friends. He and his late wife, Rosetta, established the Elizabeth Ann Giuliano Magnes Memorial Scholarship in the College of Education in memory of their daughter Elizabeth, a member of the Class of 1975.Sam remained a constant and generous benefactor of the University and was a member of the Hazard Zet Forward Society and Pirate Blue, exemplifying the ideals of stewardship and servant leadership in all he did as a Setonian. A true pillar of his parish church, Our Lady of Sorrows in South Orange for more than 45 years, he served as a parish trustee, a lector and a collection counter for decades and was a revered leader on the parish finance council and in fundraising campaigns, as well as numerous other committees and councils. He was a daily communicant and a founding member of the Wednesday men's prayer breakfast. He was active, with Rosettta, in the national Catholic tithing movement and in the Serra Club, a lay organization that promotes vocations to the priesthood. In 1996 he was named Catholic Layman of the Year of his parish by the Holy Name Society, on which board he served for many years. Samuel also served on the boards of the South Orange Performing Arts Center and Assumption College. He was often recognized with awards, including the Jubilee Medal Pro Meritis of the Archdiocese of Newark in recognition of his untiring prayer, dedication and generosity in support of his cherished Catholic faith. He often turned down awards or recognition of any kind for doing what he loved to do—to be of service to others. Sam had a passion for athletic endeavor. He was an avid tennis and paddleboard player, exercised regularly and was a devoted runner. His running accomplishments included being one of ten runners over the ageof 60 competing in the 40 mile Swiss-Alpine Ultra Marathon in Davos, Switzerland in 1987 and as a long time participant and medal winner in the Jersey Shore Running Club 5k Summer Series, most recently completing the Spring Lake 5 run in May of 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosetta Iodice Giuliano. Loving father of four daughters: Alice Giuliano, Nancy Durando and her husband Jaime, Janice Giuliano, and the late Elizabeth Magnes. Devoted grandfather and great-grandfather to eight grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Jacqueline, Dillon, Julian, Adrienne, Veronica, Christian and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Elizabeth, Gabriella, and Giada. Dear brother of Lydia Torre, Armando Giuliano, the late Josephine DeSimone and Gloria Casilli.
