Maria L. Tarcsay Kovach, 83, of Springfield, N.J., died on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Mountainside, N.J.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, N.J., on Thursday, July 5, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Short Hills. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Born in Szentgotthard, Hungary, Maria resided in Springfield, N.J., since 1964. She was a manager of a local train station in Szentgotthard, Hungary. Among her proudest accomplishments was moving Red Cross relief supplies from Austria to Budapest during the Hungarian uprising in 1956. Upon emigrating to the United States in 1960, Maria worked as a dressmaker and then spent 15 years as a printer at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Short Hills.
She was the devoted mother of Thomas, Maria and Barbara Kovach, Cecilia Cerne and Patricia Mickus. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters.
