Philip B Cosgrove, 81, of Bay Head NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 while visiting with his family in Montana. Born in Newark, NJ to James and Mary Dever Cosgrove, Philip was a long time resident of South Orange and Bay Head, NJ. Philip was a graduate of St Benedict's Preparatory and Seton Hall University. He served in the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Philip retired after many years in the commercial real estate and insurance businesses. Philip was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth A Jennings; loving father to Mary Catherine (Kate)and her husband, Jose Gonzalez of Ridgewood, NJ, Patricia E and her husband, Robert Lawrence of Missoula, MT, and Philip James (PJ)and his wife, Tracey, of Mill Valley, CA; grandfather to Caroline, Emily, Meghan Gonzalez, Andrea, Guinevere Lawrence, Finnan, Griffin Cosgrove; brother to Teresa A. Cosgrove of Bay Head, NJ. He was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head and member of the Friendly Sons of St Patrick, Spring Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday January 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m at St Francis Xavier Church Missoula, MT. Interment service private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
