On Saturday, March 14, 2009, Mary F. Hynes, beloved wife of Vincent T. Hynes, of Short Hills, New Jersey and Centerville, Massachusetts, died at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. Mary was the devoted mother of Maureen E. of Sudbury, Massachusetts, Mary Beth and Alex Wragg, of Peachtree City, Georgia; Eileen M. and Tom Hoffmann of Seattle, Washington; Christine M. and Mark Mumford of Seattle, Washington; Brian T. and Heidi Schloegel Hynes of Bronx, New York. She was also the dear sister of Ralph Freas, of Bronx, New York who preceded her in death on October18, 2008; and Raymond "Bud" Freas of Mayfield Village, Ohio. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Jessica Aspen Cohen of Kauai, Hawaii, Allison Hagan Binder of Sudbury, Massachusetts; Meghan E. Binder of Charlestown, Massachusetts; Sarah Ashley Cohen of Brooklyn, New York; James H. Binder of Burlington, Vermont; Molly Catherine Binder of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; William Thomas Binder of Sudbury, Massachusetts; Gus Hynes Hoffmann of Seattle, Washington, Hannah Hynes Mumford of Seattle, Washington; Caleb Vincent Hynes Hoffmann of Seattle, Washington; Lili Hynes Mumford of Seattle, Washington; and Frieda Schloegel Hynes of Bronx, New York and great grandchild Aiyah Sarie Miller of Kauai, Hawaii. Mary was well loved by all who knew her, "Mary's baseline expression was a smile, and it only went up from there," said son-in-law Tom Hoffmann in remembering Mary, "Most things seemed to make her laugh, and when she was really tickled, and her big laugh lit up the room." Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral mass in celebration of Mary's life at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Avenue, Short Hills, NJ 07019 at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Calling hours will be held at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, NJ on Tuesday, March 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In addition to being remembered as a beloved wife and mother and a devoted grandmother, Mary will be remembered for her service and loyalty to St. Rose of Lima School of Short Hills, NJ; and the Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child in Summit, NJ, where she volunteered for many years. She will also be remembered for her years of service to the Ladies Auxiliary of St Rose of Lima Church and her fund-raising efforts for Overlook Hospital, where she danced and sang in the Overlook Follies during the 1950's and 60's. Mary also worked for many years as a valued Administrative Assistant at Mobay Corporation in Union, New Jersey; as a Receptionist at the Joseph M. Byrne Insurance Company in Short Hills, NJ and at Bergdorf Realty in Millburn, New Jersey before retiring to devote herself full-time as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to her parents, Raymond and Sylvia Freas of Germantown; she graduated from Benedictine Academy in Newark, New Jersey, where she was well-loved by fellow classmates and teachers alike, where she was devoted to the many good friends she made there until her health prevented her from visiting and keeping up with them in her later years.
