John “Jack” A. Hay, 89, passed away at home in Maplewood on January 21, 2018. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service from The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Sat, January 27th at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours are on Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM and Saturday, 10-11 AM. For more information or to send condolences please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com Born in Astoria, NY, Jack resided in Oceanside, NY for many years before moving to Maplewood, NJ in 2010. He received his Undergraduate and Masters Degrees from SUNY- Cortland. Jack served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a Physical Education teacher & coach @ Oceanside High school. Jack enjoyed many years of coaching high school boys’ cross-country and wrestling and girls’ softball. Throughout his life he continued to treasure the connections he made with his students and co-workers. His writing and publishing of the NY State Dept of Ed. Weight-Training Manual in 1960, was one of the accomplishments of which he was most proud. He was also the founder and president of Asset Fund Allocation Inc., in Oceanside, NY from 1991-2011. Jack was predeceased by his wife Joan Bitcon Hay in 2011. He is survived by his children Kathy Hay Stine (Craig) and Scott D. Hay (Mary); grandchildren Blake Hay, Jack, Matthew and Ryder Stine; his brothers Allan and Ronald Hay, and dear companion, Cynthia Tuzman.
