Obituary of Bruce T. Swan
Bruce T. Swan, a distinguished businessman and active community member, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 3, 1932, in Scarsdale, New York, Bruce led a life marked by integrity, achievement, and service to others.
A proud Eagle Scout, Bruce’s commitment to excellence was evident early in life. He graduated from Harvard University in 1954, followed by a degree from Harvard Business School in 1956. Bruce served his country as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the U.S. Navy, attending Officer Candidate School and dedicating four years to the service. His professional career was distinguished, most notably with Brown Brothers Harriman and Monsanto.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bruce was deeply committed to his faith and community. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church, serving on the Vestry and the Board of Directors for the National Standing Committee for Ministry Development, where he offered both leadership and guidance. His passion for service extended beyond the workplace, leaving a lasting impact on his church and community.
Bruce's interests were varied and enriching. He was an avid sailor and loved traveling the world.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of many years, Sandra, and his three children: Bruce Jr., Lisa, and Rodney. He was a proud grandfather to Madeline and Brian.
A service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be held at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 119 Main St, Millburn, NJ, on Saturday, January 18th at 11am. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
