MAVIS Y. BRADFORD
1935-2024
Mavis Yvonne Bradford, a fraternal twin, was born August 24,1935 in Victoria Village ECD in Guyana, South America. On November 30, 2024, the angels sang as she was ushered home to Glory, reuniting with her Lord and Savior, husband, twin, and other loved ones gone before her.
A beloved Mother, she was preceded in death by her parents Eleazer George, Sr. and Eldika Adams and several siblings: infant twins (names unknown), Iris, Christobel, Louisa, Prince, Moses, Eleazer, Jr., Felix, Shelia, Neville, Sybil, and Vernon. She was the last born of fourteen children.
Mavis was married to the late Cortwright K. Bradford for over 60 years. Their union produced their greatest blessings, their cherished children: Leroy (Joy), Colin (Monalisa-dec.), Kenrick (Marilyn), Monica, Lance (Pamela), Marlene, and Chrisandra. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Lonnie, Kevin, Colin, Jr., (dec.), Laurian, Lotoya, Keiron, Melissa, Candace, and Kenrick, Jr., and great grandmother/Nana of Crystal, Rihanna, Caliph, Jr., Jordyn, Aiden, and Caiden.
Mrs. Bradford was the sister-in-law of Ismay McKoy, Phyllis George, and Beryl George; and numerous others who preceded her in death. She was known as Auntie Mavis to a host of nieces and nephews, including Lynette, Carmen, Harold, Terry, Leyland, Lennox, Denise, Rose, Patricia, Maylene, Christobel, Ulrick, Neil, Nathaniel, and many others too numerous to mention. Great aunt of Remington, Shaughn, Pamela, Owen, Michelle, Tamara, Dionne, Malkia, Danielle, and Langston.
Miss Mavis will be remembered as a loyal friend by Phinella Weatherspoon, Cindy Millbry, Thelma Pratcher, Joan Johnson, Robert and Brenda Sam, Malcolm and Johanna Sanderson, Bertram Mathieson, Stanley Abrams, and countless others. She will be missed by her special caretakers, Llubisi, Mona, and Kay.
Mrs. Bradford immigrated to the United States in 1984 where she and her husband established a new and successful life for their family. She lived in Ohio before moving to New Jersey in her later years. There, she resided with, and under the tender and dedicated care of her daughter Monica.
A woman of deep faith, Sister Bradford gave her life to God in 1969 and has been a faithful servant of Christ until her last Divine and peaceful breath. Mother Bradford was a member of Bethel Tabernacle AOG in her native Guyana. She also remained connected to her Good News Bible Chapel church family in OH through Pastor Blandine Walls. She will be fondly remembered by Pastor Lori Strang of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Child-of-God Mavis Y. Bradford, fought the good fight and now rests in the Mighty Arms of her Creator. Hallelujah! Amen!
