Obituary of Lorraine Dougherty

Lorraine Dougherty, beloved sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at the age of 79.

Mrs. Dougherty was born in Brooklyn, NY, and lived much of her life near Binghamton, NY, where she worked for the New York State Workers Compensation Board. The First Baptist Church in Maine, NY, was a central part of her life.  Her faith was always deeply important to her, but beyond that, she met many close friends through the church.  She participated in groups there, such as the Red Hat Society and prayer groups, and taught Sunday School.

Lorraine quilted, gardened, read, traveled, collected recipes, and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones.  She was very dear to her friends and family, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her two sons: Arthur William Dougherty II (Sara) and Andrew Dougherty (Josie), and siblings Betty Anne Di Spigna, Lemuel Chastain, and Michael Wagner.  She also has two grandchildren, William and Elisabeth Dougherty.

Visitation will be at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Saturday, May 18th  from 1:30-3:00 PM. Words of Remembrance will follow at 3:00 PM. Interment is Private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 (michaeljfox.org) would be appreciated.
