Obituary of Joseph L. Bodnar Jr.

Joseph L. Bodnar Jr. passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Center for Hope Hospice, in Scotch Plains.

 

A memorial mass will be held in honor of Mr. Bodnar at 2 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Seton Hall University’s Chapel of Immaculate Conception, 400 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, New Jersey.

 

Mr. Bodnar was born July 3, 1947, in Norwalk, Connecticut, and lived in Maplewood, New Jersey. Mr. Bodnar graduated from Seton Hall University in 1969 earning a B.S. in Accounting. While attending Seton Hall, Joseph met Mary Degnan. They married in 1970 and lived in Maplewood for 37 years.

 

Mr. Bodnar was Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice-President, and a Member of the Standard Tool & Manufacturing Co. Board of Directors from 1978 to 1993, and Controller and minority owner of HW Exhibits, Inc. from 1993 to 2000.

 

Mr. Bodnar was predeceased by his wife, Mary, father, Joseph Sr., and mother, Jennie, and is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Konsulis and her husband Chris, Ann Bodnar and her husband Eric Meyer, and Sarah Bodnar and her husband Brian Carter, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces. Mr. Bodnar enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time with family. Mr. Bodnar was an avid sports fan, especially of Seton Hall University basketball and the New York Yankees.

 

He had a special way of gathering folks, telling stories, and enjoying life.
