Obituary of Kenneth Lee Sheldon

Kenneth Lee Sheldon, age 74, loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. A 1967 graduate of Glen Rock High School, who then received his bachelor's degree in economics from Farleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey in 1971. Ken served in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War and was a Foreign Exchange Trader for Société Générale in NYC before retiring in 2009.

He lived in Maplewood, New Jersey for almost 40 years. Ken’s talents included making people laugh, smile, and feel loved. He could give a complete synopsis of a television episode of Friends or Bing Bang Theory. He loved trivia, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Words with Friends, and eating a whole tub of coleslaw in less than 1 minute during his Army Reserve days. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing board games, Amàta, having drinks with friends, watching the Yankees win more than the Red Sox, winning arguments with his wife Susan then apologizing for being wrong about the fights he thought he won, all while keeping the lawn in pristine condition.

Preceded in death by his parents John Gerald and Dorothy Louise (Smith) Sheldon. He is survived by his loving wife Susan (Williams), daughter Lizzie, sons Kenny and Sean, daughter-in-law Maria (Mancino), grandson Elliott John, brothers Gerald, John, Richard, and Michael, sister Dotty, and numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, neighbors, people walking by down the street, random truck drivers stopping to ask for directions, people casually browsing grocery aisles, and anyone else that had 5 minutes to spare to listen to a story about anything.

Celebration of Life services will be held on February 10th, from 2:00-5:00pm at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, located at 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, New Jersey, followed by Words of Remembrance at 5:00pm. Interment is private.

The family would like to express thanks for the wonderful support everyone showed over the past few weeks. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to St. Jude. Condolences may be sent to the family on the Funeral Home’s website.
