Obituary of JoAnn Iantosca

Please share a memory of JoAnn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

JoAnn Principe Iantosca, 89 of South Orange passed away on December 3, 2023 at St. Joseph's Senior Home & Nursing Center in Woodbridge, NJ.

Visitation will held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Wednesday, December 6th from 4-8PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange on Thursday, December 7th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover

Born in Newark, JoAnn grew up in Irvington and Maplewood. Although she lived in Maplewood, as fate would have it she attended South Orange Junior High and this is where she met the love of her life, Angelo Iantosca. She attended Columbia High School and then went on to The Berkeley Secretarial School. She and Angelo were married September 18th, 1955 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and were together for nearly 61 years until he died in 2016.

JoAnn was an only child and always dreamt of having a large family. They moved into their home on Richmond Avenue in South Orange, where she would live for almost 65 years, and they got to work. There, they raised 5 children and she became an active member of the community and church. Neighbors would often smell the delicious aroma of her meatballs and ‘gravy’, her only specialty in the kitchen, emanate from the house multiple days a week. JoAnn loved Saturday night date nights, being surrounded by her family and friends in both South Orange and their home in Lavallette, trips to Disney World, and anything that involved having fun. She was an incredible mother to Stephen A. and his wife Susan, Alan P., Gregory S. and his late wife Carolyn, Beth Ann Smith, and her husband Gary, and Jennifer Cascio and her husband Joseph. She was a loving grandmother of Christopher, Timothy, Mark, Matthew, Nicole, Jake, Samantha, Alexandra, Daniel, Sophia & Olivia; great-grandmother of Travis, Autumn, Riley, Hailey and Bryson.

In lieu of flowers donations to St. Joseph’s Senior Home & Nursing Center, 1-3 St. Joseph’s Terrace Woodbridge, NJ 07095 would be appreciated. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net
