Obituary of Shirley A. Ward

Shirley Ann Ward (nee Holmes), 82 entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2017 with her loving and devoted daughter Karen beside her. Shirley had been a cherished resident of Brookdale Assisted Living, Florham Park for the past 12 years. She was frequently referred to as “Sunshine Shirley” as she exuded love, warmth and genuine kindness throughout her life. All who knew her embraced her loving spirit. Born in East Orange, Shirley had lived in Maplewood for over 40 years before moving to Brookdale Assisted Living in Florham Park. She was a secretary for Oxidental Life Ins. Co, Newark prior to raising her daughter. She later worked for the Maplewood Dental Group. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Ward, cherished and loving mother of Karen Ward, sister of Raymond Holmes and the late Walter Holmes. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Wed, Aug 30th on 10:30 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover.
