Learning after Joan's passing, I missed the visitation at St. Joseph's Church to share my sincere condolences with the family in person for this nice lady. We chanced to meet by going to Harrison Research a number of years ago when I was much younger where she worked later in her life for those of us wanting to participate in wearing patches to test products for skin sensitivity to make some extra cash, "fun money I called it"......We just became social with my visits there learning that I was a teacher and sang in a chorus and learning she also had a family member in education as well. She always bought grapefruit from my chorus fundraiser each year as I carried a heavy box of fruit to her home in Maplewood to enjoy. After she fully retired, I frequently saw her at St. Joseph Church when Father Jim had his monthly hour of solace accompanying himself at the piano while he sang religious and popular songs that had beautiful sentiment in the quiet of a darkened church and greeting each other afterwards for those few moments over several years before the pandemic began when social life in public places became more quiet. Nice that she is at peace now and hopefully realizing how much she meant to so many people she helped in her life time. God Bless, Trina Pietz

Aunt Joan was a remarkable woman, and she was admired and respected by everyone in her lifetime. She will always be remembered for her wisdom and compassion. As a child I spent many years with Aunt Joan and Uncle Jimmy, visiting on weekends and family holidays. As my Godmother, she was a guide, and coached me through difficult times with her moral support and faith. I love her and will miss her. To my cousins, Mary Jeanne, Maureen, and Timothy please accept my condolences and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
