Obituary of Peter A. Zimmermann

Peter A. Zimmermann, age 60, of Raritan, died Friday, May 16, 2025 at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Peter was born in Paterson and was raised in Maplewood. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.  Peter was the Vice President and partner of his family’s business, Air Systems Inc. in Kenilworth.  

Peter had a profound love of nature, spending many of his younger years exploring the world around him, and then sharing those passions later in life with his children and extended family. He was especially fond of fishing, and created many great memories with family and friends on the water. Most of all, Peter was fun. He will always be remembered for his innate ability to provide laughter whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Peter is predeceased by his loving mother, Gertrude Zimmermann. He is survived by his two beautiful children, Hayley and Peter A. Zimmermann Jr., his devoted father, Peter T. Zimmermann, sisters, Deborah Pigott (Dan) and Allison Jellinek (Bob), nieces and nephews, Brendan, Emily, Kevin and Kaya, and girlfriend, Jennifer Sullivan.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange, NJ on Thursday, May 22nd from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private.
