Obituary of James Murray

With heavy hearts yet grateful souls, we share the passing of James Murray, who peacefully left this world at the age of 91. A devoted husband, a cherished father, and an adoring grandfather, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness.

James Murray, 91, of Manchester, NJ, formerly of Toms River, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025.

James was born and raised in Newark, NJ, before settling in Toms River, where he built a fulfilling career and life. He worked as a dedicated maintenance technician for the Community Medical Center in Toms River for 30 years, ensuring the comfort and safety of countless patients and staff.

James was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Murray (née Wilson); his beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Murray; his parents, John and Elizabeth (Gresch) Murray; and his siblings, Eugene Murray and Mary Wirth.

He is survived by his loving children, Michael and Eric Murray and Joanne Murray-Gutierrez; his brother, John Murray; and his cherished granddaughter, Jessica Murray-Gutierrez.

Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who cherished him, and a world made brighter because he was in it.

A graveside service will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery, 451 Millburn Ave, Millburn, on Tuesday, April 8th, at 11:00 AM.
