Obituary of Valda E. Wright

Valda Elaine Wright nee Tudor passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2025 at the age of 83. Valda was born to Alfred and Lillian Tudor in the parish of St. Michael, Barbados on September 23, 1941.

She attended Belmont Primary School and then on to St. Michaels Girls High School.  Val as she was affectionately known then went on to teach in Barbados from 1961 to 1965 at the Alleyne School and Washington High school before emigrating to Montreal, Canada.

 Val moved to New Jersey in 1970 and worked as a clerk typist for an insurance company thru 1974. In 1974 she joined Essex Newark Legal Services as a clerk typist. During this time at ENLS she trained to become a Paralegal and worked for legal services for 49 years until her retirement in December 2023.

Val was the adoptive mother of Kevin Wright, step mother to Michelle Greene and Neil Collins.  Sister to Carmen Tudor, David Tudor and Michael Tudor Sr.   Aunt of Carolyn, Selwin (aka Danny), Ricardo, Francine, Sandra, Raymond, Paul, Joanne, Daniel, Caroline, Corey and Michael Jr.  She is also survived by many other relatives across the US, England, Canada, Barbados and Ireland.

A celebration of Val's Life will be held at The Episcopal Church of St. Andrew and Holy Communion Church, 160 W. South Orange Ave, South Orange, NJ on Saturday March 29th, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10: 00 am to time of service at 11:00am. Followed by the interment at Rosedale Cemetery in Montclair, NJ.
