Val was a wonderful, caring, thoughtful, sister in law. My first "real" gift was a cuddly, beautifully decorated pink cardigan she gave me on my 16th birthday. The world has lost a blessed soul in Val. May she rest in peace.

Valda was my first supervisor when I was a law student serving in the Rutgers Law School public entitlement clinic. Valda was a compassionate person, i learned the importance of serving the community with a purpose from her and Josephine Nelson and carried that sense of purpose throughout my career. She will be missed.

My first official dinner party was at Auntie Val’s house. She has done so much for our family there are no words of gratitude that rightfully fit the amount of thanks we have. Thank you Auntie Val you are loved and will be missed but kept in our hearts always. Pat’s Kids.

Diana & Leroy Johnson and family: Condolences to the Tudor / Wright families. May you find comfort in knowing that Val leaves a legacy of Service. Helping everyone she met, including myself. Typing almost all of my undergrad papers, for that I am extremely grateful. My family treasured her friendship, always with a smile, and encouraging words. Her memory will live on in us. Val was my next door neighbor for many years and I will miss her very much. She would send me these prayers and words of wisdom and for some reason she knew what to send and when because they were just for me. I couldn't ask for a nicer neighbor. Rest easy Val.

Your passing is the end of the long road of our friendship which began over 60 years ago. We had some wonderful times the memories which will be forever with me. You were the type of person who looked out for everyone down to the end when you became the matriarch of the family, a role you took over from your mother. Even though you had no children, you were a 'mother' to many. They will all remember you and the memories we created with be with me untll the day I follow you into that heavenly place. To all of Valda’s family and loved ones, Val was a blessing in our lives. Joanne spent many years in our Wednesday book club together.. a Sisterhood. Her humor, warmth, faith, and love were always there for us. She was a woman of courage and conviction. Val, you will always live in our hearts and be an example of the kind of woman I want to be.
