Lucille “Lucie” Longworth, née Singer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, New Jersey.
Lucie was born on July 8, 1952 in Manhattan, NY and was raised in Queens, New York by her parents, Norman and Nancy Singer. After graduating from Marymount Manhattan College with a degree in psychology in 1985, Lucie contributed her talents to roles at the Ford Foundation and Elizabeth Arden. Her tenacity and hard work led her to the banking industry, where she worked as an executive assistant until her retirement in 2022. Most recently, she held a position at the Newark Museum of Art, which brought her much joy.
Lucie was formally married to David Longworth, and together they were devoted parents to their beloved daughter, Vanessa Rose Longworth, a talented artist who passed away too soon. Lucie’s life was full of love, humor, and connection. Her mantra for living life was to “reach for the awesome”. So much about Lucie sparkled; her resiliency and vivacious perspective will continue to shape her loved ones. Her lively and adventurous spirit will always be remembered.
She is survived by many loving friends, family, her partner, Donald “Henry” Arthur, and her cherished Pomeranian, Carmelo. A memorial gathering will be held on March 29, 2025 from 3pm to 5pm at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home in Maplewood, NJ.
